JUDGING AND TRAINING |
As an experienced 'A' Panel Retriever Judge, Mark is requested to judge working tests, novice and open field trials extensively throughout the U.K. and Europe.
Mark is also regularly invited to undertake training sessions in Europe and the U.K. for groups and individuals and has had many groups attending the sessions in England, from Sweden, Denmark
and further afield.

Mark Demaine - The Man, The Myth, The Legend returns to Norway 1. -5. May 2024 to hold courses & trainings in Østfold. We will be running classes for Elite dogs, Open class dogs and young dog/beginner class dogs. We may have a few private hours available. Mark is a problem solver. Really nice weekend at Hishult with Marlene Edvinsson and a group of eight handlers. Good training with some laughs on the way. Good ground and the handlers worked hard with there dogs well done everybody.

Nice days at our first Summer Camp. Another day off today, recharging our batteries before it all starts again tomorrow. Today we did some training with Quinn & Fellow and then with Fergie & Tidy. We also planned for our upcoming Gundog Clinic and we are really looking forward to the day. Mark is very good at reading both dog and handler which means he can help you stretch your dog in training without pushing to far. The result being that you will see improvements in the way that your dog responds to you........Robert Mueller, Jan 2020
Finally — felt like spring in the air today! Trained our youngsters "Wes" and "Fellow" again today, love to see them develop. Then we went out with "Fergie", FTCh Burrendale Fergie of Caytonfell, and "Tidy", Burrendale Dee, and did some tricky blinds in small windows. Last summer, 2019, I went to England for the first time to train for Mark. I was unsure of both myself and my young dog and when we started the first day I thought we will not be able to do this. But thanks to Mark's knowledge, patience and encouragement, both my dog and I developed incredibly much. It was fantastic training and I have been looking back every day since I came home. Accompanying the Swedish Gundog League on their Judge's seminar week with Mark Demaine, Dave Latham and Wayne Mitchell. It was four days of mock trials, first day and third day was walk up on dummies near the village of Settle, North Yorkshire and a little driven style in the afternoon of the third day. The second day and fourth day was walk up on game (partridge) at the very challenging Hy-Fly shoot in Lancaster. An excellent week for any handler or judge at any level with three very knowledgeable and experienced judges who openly discussed about the many different scenarios that arose and arise at field trials and all about the running of the trial in the management of the trial with the gamekeepers, guns, handlers and the gallery. This week was not about who's dog was best or about the competition between handlers! It was all about how one would judge the dog and handler, about giving the dog and handler the best and fairest opportunity to show their dogs working, how to make calls on different situations and all about overall communication between judges and guns etc. ............. this was an excellent week of learning and that it is an excellent way of educating new and existing judges for our wonderful sport of Retriever Trials. Lots of countries could follow in the footsteps of the Swedish enthusiasm and hold similar seminars to help get more and more people interested in this great hobby with our companions............ A very big thank you to the three English Judges Mark, Dave and Wayne for all their explanations and for sharing their experience and knowledge to everyone (handlers, gallery and judges) that attended................ Four days kennel meeting is over, four days with the best instructors you can get. I was honoured to be selected as one of the judges of the 2021 I.G.L. Retriever Championships at Ampton, despite meaning I was unable to run my qualified dog Quinn. It was great to judge so many very good dogs and the organisation by the estate and helpers was immense. Thanks to my co-judges for a memorable experience.
