3rd place I.G.L. 2017
England Retriever Team Member from 2012 to 2017. I.G.L. Qualifier 2013 and 2017.
Riley was a powerful, but very steady dog with excellent drive. He had a wonderful temperament which is also seen in his offspring. He has represented his country well, having achieved selection to the England Retriever Team on many occasions from being just over a year old in 2012 to 2017. In 2013 he had an excellent season culminating in qualifying for the I.G.L. Retriever Championship.
In September 2016 he was awarded a COM at Leicestershire Gundog Society's Neville Holt two day open trial in a field of exceptionally talented dogs; and then came a very close second to the winner of Northumberland and Durham LRC Two Day Open Trial in October. He then finished 3rd in a very strong field at Dove Valley's Open stake and was awarded best yellow retriever of the event.
Riley proved very reliable gaining selection for the 2017 England Retriever Team. He was one of the three retrievers competing for England at the Scottish Game Fair in July 2017 which I am pleased to say, England won!
Riley did not manage to get many trial runs in 2017 but in October did very well at the Two Day Open of the Yellow Labrador Club, finishing 4th in a very strong field. He then made the most of his run at the Tyne Tees and Tweed FTA, Two Day Open Qualifier in October, which I am proud to say he won.
As well as making Riley a Field Trial Champion; that win gained him entry to the 2017 I.G.L. Retriever Championships where, after working hard over the three days he was placed 3rd in a very strong field of 59 dogs.
Riley was retired from competition in 2017 and became a much loved pet but thoroughly enjoyed days picking up and training with his kennel mates until his passing at 11years old in November 2021. He will never be forgotten and is sadly missed by our whole family.
