FIELD TRIAL CHAMPION
BRECKMARSH ETHAN OF CAYTONFELL
QUINN
(FTCH Leacaz Ricky Of Caytonfell x Pabiaga Little Miss Dottie)
Sired by Riley (F.T. Ch. Leacaz Ricky Of Caytonfell), Quinn is a strong, solid youngster with an athletic build and a promising pedigree. Quinn has had no problems fitting into the Caytonfell pack and has a great character. Unfortunately his trialling season of 2020 did not go to plan due to the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions but he continued training ready for action.
I was really pleased with Quinn being awarded a C.O.M. in his first competitive test in 2021 -a 64 dog Open in June 2021, which was organised for a great cause - St. John's Hospice.
It was an honour for Quinn and I to be chosen to be part of The England Retriever Team for every event in 2021, including the Game Fairs. I was very happy with Quinn at the first event of the year - THE GAME FAIR, Ragley Hall in July 2021. He was top scorer in the England team and after a run off with good friend George Buchan from Scotland, we also managed 2nd top scoring retriever of the event.
Quinn started the 2021 trialling season well with a 2nd place in The Gamekeepers National Association novice trial at Westruther. I was very pleased with his performance. He then went on to WIN Northumberland and Durham L.R.C.'s 14 dog novice trial at the Emblehope & Burngrange estate. It was a very hard going, long day, with very testing ground for people as well as the dogs. He did me proud, getting Best Handler and Guns Choice awards as well as the 1st place.
September 2021 brought even more accolades as Quinn was again TOP SCORING RETRIEVER of the England Team at the Sxottish Game Fair. England were 3rd overall and Quinn was joint TOP SCORING DOG OF THE COMPETITION TOO!
Early October has been a productive week for Quinn. His first two day open trial at Strathmore, Bowhill on amazing ground saw him awarded 3rd place. Second trial; another two day open just a little further North in Perth, at the Drummond Estate and we achieved another 3rd place and Guns Choice. Really pleased with him - 5 trials this season and 4 awards won!
What a great season Quinn has had so far! Winning out of novice field trials in September and WINNING HIS FIRST OPEN TRIAL in October 2021 at The Gamekeepers National Association 2 Day Open trial which QUALIFIED QUINN FOR THE 2021 I.G.L.
A couple of weeks after winning his first Open 2 day trial, Quinn put in a great performance at the Usk Valley Working Gundog Club as they held their 2 Day Open AV Retriever Field Trial on 29th and 30th October 2021 - WHICH QUINN WON!
At only 3 years old he has been outstanding; being chosen for the England Retriever Team 2021 (and being best team retriever in his first event). He has now doubly qualified for the 2021 IGL and also is now made up to my 4th FIELD TRIAL CHAMPION! An amazing month of 8 trials, 2 in novice (2nd and then 1st place), followed by two third places and two first place in 2 day open stakes. Quite a boy!
Quinn began the 2022 season with a very good 2nd place at Northumberland and Durham's Open Trial at Bolton Abbey Grouse moor. I was exceptionally happy with his performance on both days and am sure there is much more to come from him during the season.
He made me very proud when he won Scottish Gundog Association's 2 day trial on the wonderful Lochan Estate in October 2022 - which qualifies him for the 2022 I.G.L. Quinn did me proud and whilst not featuring in the awards, made it through 2 of the 3 days of the I.G.L. at Holkham.
